Week 5 and almost halfway through our Agent Academy journey, and what a busy week it’s been. Monday we donned our black T-shirts and manned the Agent Academy stand at the Liverpool City Region Skills Show, chatting with parents and young people about the amazing opportunities available through apprenticeships. Exhausting but rewarding.
Tuesday we visited Andy Kent at Angel Solutions. Wow, where do I start? Well, how about squeezing through a wardrobe of coats to access the meeting room! Narnia meets ‘Mad Men.’ Add to that a circus theme, a ball pit, and a 3ft elephant and you get a sense of their vibe. I think we all agreed on how inspired we were by Andy’s talk encouraging us to push forward, be passionate and, perhaps more importantly, be savvy in job interviews.
Wednesday’s highlight was ‘The Big I Am’ press launch at the Everyman Theatre. A brilliant production! The event felt like a fantastically chaotic collection of interesting people and positive energy. With the sound of clinking prosecco glasses and the buzz of conversations being held the atmosphere that night was hard to beat. Definitely a night to remember!
Wednesday day was spent with a talk by Keith Price followed by a tour of Lead Agency, which was quite the opposite of Angel Solutions office space. I especially admired the interior of this particular office; the rustic wooden table, the copper light shades plus a rather nice rug! The range of jobs within the office was fascinating from people busy in the call centre to the people behind the tech side of the agency. Next stop was Novoda, a little closer in proximity to Agent this time, situated in the Baltic Triangle. This was more of a tech-based business where we had an interesting talk/tour from Tim Craven about the impressive brands they work with and products they create.
Through Agent Academy, we’ve all had the opportunity to experience behind the scenes of a range of exciting businesses. We’ve begun to get a feel for what kind of environment would best suit us individually. Roll on next week!
