Our digital DNA

“You are your own brand. Always stay true to what you want out of your career, and life itself.”

This week at the Academy, Zoe organised workshops that highlighted our personal visions and values. We worked on our individual voices, explored our strengths and weaknesses and gaged the role that we play within our tightknit team.

We learnt that although it is important that we understand our characteristics and behaviours, we shouldn’t let them limit us professionally or allow them to define who we are. We can grow and develop our skills and work on our weaknesses.

Zoe taught us that we should put our self and our own voice into future job applications and interviews- our experiences and involvements make a more interesting and memorable story which as a result, will make us great candidates for any job role we apply for.

Week 8 also brought a visit from Nadina Osmani, Digital and Content producer at Red Ninja who disclosed her digital content and storytelling tips to us. After all, time is precious so we need to engage and inspire people with purpose.

Miriam Sauter, Digital Strategy Director at Hitsearch also called into the Academy to teach us that “Your gender doesn’t define your digital DNA.” We learnt that there is still an unconscious gender bias within the boardroom, which needs to be tackled.

The team ended week 8 on a design and innovation high when we visited Uniform, a company who imagine the impossible. We spoke with Michelle Ford and Val Bounds who showed us how their teams solve problems with new ideas. Not forgetting, we were able to try VR rock climbing and play with Solo, a mood inspired radio which uses facial expression recognition!
